Advocation for North Korean Human Rights in New York 🗽💒

May 2024

This May, Pastor Seungeun Kim prayed for the souls of North Korea at the New York Reunification Square Prayer Meeting in front of the UN Headquarters and praised God for His greatness.

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) have passed resolutions on these issues. For 22 consecutive years, resolutions on North Korea have been adopted, starting in 2003 with the Human Rights Committee (the predecessor of the UN Human Rights Council).

These groups condemn North Korea's widespread human rights violations and urge action against them. They also call on relevant nations to respect the principle of non-refoulement.

However, the North Korean government continues to forcibly repatriate defectors, disregarding international appeals and neglecting the basic rights of its people.

We prayed for North Korea before the UN headquarters, praising God and hoping these seeds would bear fruit in God’s time. We're thankful for the New York Reunification Square Prayer Meeting, which was held despite the cold weather.

Pastor Kim also visited Dongsan Korean Reformed Church, focusing on its work in world missions. And we are grateful for Water Gate Presbyterian Church's continued collaboration with Caleb Mission's ministry!

We pray that New York will transcend its role as just an economic and cultural center and emerge as a hub for gospel missions.
